Company History
In September 2006, the company sold its market leading Medical Products division to Medical Action Industries (NASDAQ:MDCI). Recognizing the need for innovation and better process in the infusion therapy products market, Medegen's executive team pursued strategic acquisition opportunities. In mid 2003, Medegen acquired KippGroup a leading supplier of IV Therapy components and in 2004, Medegen acquired Maximus Medical, a specialty IV therapy products company. With these acquisitions Medegen entered the highly innovative and growing market of infusion therapy.
Innovation Leader
Medegen is gaining recognition as a leader in IV therapy products due to the clinical performance of its products containing Tru-Swab technology. Tru-Swab technology gives clinicians the first swabable surface free of crevices, nooks and crannies that can harbor bacteria. All of Medegen's needleless valves feature Tru-Swab valve technology which provides a flat smooth surface allowing for thorough disinfection of the valve top prior to access. The design, which allows for the valve top to remain flat and smooth, is patented.
The company's leading MaxPlus valve also features Medegen's patented positive displacement technology which provides a bolus of fluid to clear the catheter tip upon disconnection from the device. Medegen's patented technologies provide features not previously available in needleless valve technology that provide greater patient care. |
